The Jakarta Provincial Government recorded a positive trend in the employment sector in 2026.

The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, said that employment conditions in Jakarta continue to improve, marked by an increase in workforce participation and a decrease in unemployment rates.

This was conveyed by Pramono at the Jakarta Budget Talks event with the theme Navigating the Jakarta Regional Budget: Strengthening Performance, Safeguarding Public Interests at the Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (7/22).

"In the employment sector, the labor force participation rate shows an increase," said Pramono.

In 2026, the labor force participation rate increased by 0.08 points year-on-year to 65.48 percent, with the working population increasing to 5.2 million people.

Furthermore, improvements in employment conditions were also reflected in a 0.15-point decline in the open unemployment rate in Jakarta to 6.03 percent in February 2026.

Pramono stated that the decline in unemployment was supported by various programs to improve job access and skills training. One of these programs was the creation of 2,843 job openings under the labor-intensive program.

In addition, an internship program was implemented for 1,000 high school graduates involving 107 companies, as well as Mobile Training Unit training for 2,731 participants.

Pramono added that the increase in job opportunities reflects Jakarta's increasingly healthy and inclusive economic growth.

In addition to strengthening the domestic job market, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also committed to continuing sending workers abroad, such as to Japan, Korea, Germany, and Saudi Arabia.

They will be equipped with better language training to support their existing skills.

"That is how we can prepare our workforce to work abroad," he stated.
